  • Met group of people travelling in the coach

  • Walked around Las Vegas (not an SHG place of choice!)

  • Disappointing hotel (closed)

Day 2 arrive Bryce Canyon

Stay: 

Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel

On the way visit:

  • Zion National Park

  • Bryce Canyon (home of world's largest concentration of hoodoos)

  • Stunning scenery throughout the day.

Day 3 arrive Salt Lake City

Stay: 

Hilton Salt Lake City

​Home of the Mormon church

  • Utah State Capitol

  • Visit Brigham Young's former home

  • Rooftop Dinner

  • Hotel in good position with good facilities

Day 4 arrive Jackson Hole

Stay:

The Lodge

  • Cross Oregon Trail

  • Visit Montpelier - explore the history of the Trail

  • Wander through Jackson Hole

  • Own Dinner at Whistling Grizzly Restaurant, Wyoming Inn

  • Must be fabulous in the ski season

Day 5 arrive Yellowstone

Stay: 

National Park Lodges

  • Cross Grand Teton National Park

  • Arrive Yellowstone National Park, one of the most stunning natural parks of the world.

  • Basic accommodation

  • SHG Highly recommends:

Day 6 stay Yellowstone

Stay:

  • Explore spouting geysers, bubbling hot springs - watch Old Faithful waters arch over 30 metres.

Day 7 arrive  Billings

Stay:

  • Drive east to town of Cody, home of Buffalo Bill

  • Buffalo Bill Museum

  • Western cowboy dinner

  • Drive through the Black Hills

  • Explore Rapid City

  • Characterful Hotel, perfect position

Day 13 arrive Monument Valley

  • Ancestral Puebloan houses and communities (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

  • Navajo cookout regional dinner

Grand Canyon

Day 14 arrive Grand Canyon National Park

Stay:  

  • Better to stay at North Rim

  • Open air trip through Monument Valley

  • Cameron Trading Post - land of the Navajo people

  • Desert View Drive

  • Geologist talk on Grand Canyon

Papillon Helicopters Grand Canyon

Day 15 return to 

Las Vegas

  • Grand Canyon Helicopter flight over the Canyon

  • Driven back to Las Vegas via the Hoover Dam

  • Took flight to Asheville (see above)
